Warwick Rhode (ROAD) Island Taxation Protest

MMN is happy to help spread the message to attend the following MEETING - The 2011 Warwick Auto Excise Tax bill always brings a 'flinch' reaction, but this year, it was a cold cock punch in the kisser.  REGARDLESS OF YOUR POLITICAL 'COLORS', this MEETING is your only chance to speak up - If you are like us, we Warwick neighbors do not take advantage of new car deals offered over the last few years in fear of what it will do to our annual auto excise tax!
Your taxes have TRIPLED since 2009!  YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO CHANGE THIS!

HERE IS THE FLIER WE RECEIVED AT OUR HOUSE:

August 15th from 5 – 8 PM
Warwick City Hall
         CAR TAX PROTEST RALLY

You can contact us at “car tax revolt@aol.com” for more information and updates.  We can also assist you in the appeal process.  You can visit the car tax rally web site at www.cartaxprotest.spruz.com

You can contact Mr. James Neary of the Vehicle Value Commission at 401-222-6445.

FACTS ABOUT YOUR NEW CAR TAXES

1.    The additional taxation is due to the council members refusing to cut spending and balance the budget.

2.    The tax is retroactive to last year’s usage of your vehicle.

3.    The value that is assigned to your vehicle is not realistic. These values are purchased from the NADA by the state to support the needed tax revenue that the general assembly feels that they need.

4.    RI Law allows for the $6000.00 exemption by each city and town to offset these unrealistic values.

5.    These car values in most cases are actually approximately 20% - 30% ABOVE full MSRP value.

6.    The values given by the NADA (National Automobile Dealer Assn.) are assigned as “FULL CLEAN RETAIL”.  Less than 5% of all vehicles sold in the U.S. meet the criteria for this value assignment.

7.    The City council has the full authority to repeal, modify and/or dissolve this unnecessary tax at any time. 100% of the revenue generated from this tax is earmarked for the 2.75%  PAY RAISES that the council approved for ALL city workers.

SO WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?

DO YOU THINK THAT THERE WON’T BE ANOTHER UNNECESSARY TAX NEXT YEAR?

Now is the time to speak up and be heard August 15th from 5 – 8 PM  Warwick City Hall
